Hey Redondo, This Friday, June 19, the country marks Juneteenth, the day in 1865 when the last enslaved Americans in Texas finally learned they were free. It is a day about freedom, dignity, and how far we have come together, and tomorrow night the City Council will formally proclaim June 19 as Juneteenth in Redondo…

Hi neighbors, Summer is rolling into Redondo, but City Hall doesn’t get a slow season, and last week made that clear. It brought a stack of regional board meetings, a police crackdown on illegal truck traffic along Palos Verdes Boulevard, new trash rates, and a battery warning worth two minutes of your time. Add a…

Hello District 1, Tomorrow is a Tuesday when Redondo will do two big things at once. June 2 is the statewide primary, and it is also a City Council night. Your ballot helps decide who carries the South Bay’s voice to Sacramento and beyond, and a few hours later, the Council chamber takes up the…

Good morning, Redondo, Yesterday at Veterans Park, the hometown Memorial Day ceremony was a reminder of what the weekend is really for: the men and women who never came home, so the rest of us could spend a Monday with family, with friends, and with real gratitude for the freedoms we get to enjoy together….

Hello Friends & Neighbors, Your ballot may already be sitting on the kitchen counter. Mine is, too. The primary is fast-approaching, and in that envelope are races that will shape the South Bay for the next four years. On this week’s calendar: a Council meeting Tuesday with the refuse rate hearing and budget presentation, the…

Neighbors, A quick thank you to everyone who turned out this past week. Three ribbon cuttings inside seven days. A Fire Department that opened both stations on Saturday. A Farmers Market on Green Lane that now feels like it has always been there. None of that happens because of a policy or a budget line….

Neighbors, This Tuesday night will be one to watch. The City Council’s first meeting of May lands a heavy agenda: a public hearing on the Housing Element, proposed changes to the Crossing Guard Program, the Athens franchise agreement heading toward its May 19 rate hearing, an update to the City’s Strategic Plan, and a Public…

Neighbors, The week was long, the wins were real, and most of them happened because people in this city kept showing up. An early morning trip to Sacramento ended in a 9-0 housing committee vote. Tuesday night brought an $11 million decision on Seaside Lagoon. North Redondo’s first weekly farmers market opened on Wednesday. And…

Neighbors, Four days of Springfest, a harbor cleanup, Earth Day at Hopkins Wilderness Park, a council vote Riviera Village has been waiting years for, and a brand new farmers market set to debut Wednesday in North Redondo. This was one of those weeks where a lot of neighbors showed up for a lot of different…

Neighbors, Anyone who has tried to push a stroller, roll a wheelchair, or walk three kids across Catalina Avenue in Riviera Village knows the truth: those streets and sidewalks were not designed for the life that happens there now. Narrow crossings, tight corners, and parking pressure that never lets up. This is something I campaigned…

Neighbors, Last week’s Strategic Planning session gave the city a sharper roadmap for the year ahead: five focus areas, clearer direction on traffic enforcement, a harder look at AI tools for city services, and a real commitment to preserving the historic properties that give Redondo Beach its character. That document is not just a planning…
