State Farm Hassles

This is the long story, but I will have to do this later. Suffice it to say that State Farm will not back me up and they want to total my car, even though the cost to repair it is less than its value (whomever's view).

They also do not believe me that the headlight assembly survived the accident. This is important because the assembly is worth about $2000 and it never made it to my body shop. Last I saw it was when the car was taken away by the flatbed. The tow company insists that they sent it away with the car when State Farm picked it up. It was delivered to my body shop. I brought this up with State Farm back in September, but they did not pursue it. I want them to handle the headlight assembly as a theft, which happened after the accident. This theft is a separate incident, and has nothing to do with the accident repair. The headlight assembly cost is enough to push the costs over State Farm's arbitrary limit where they want to declare the car a total loss. A State Farm supervisor who has only seen pictures decided that the assembly was damaged beyond repair. The adjuster told me that he did not believe me when I said they were intact and in good shape. And I pay for this abuse!?!

More later. Lots of details, letters, phone calls, pictures, and finally the lawyer.
